Tom Calcagni is a communications professional and author of Tough Questions - Good Answers, with more than 20 years of experience in public relations, public affairs and broadcast journalism. He opened Calcagni Media Coaching in 2001 after joining the American Automobile Association (AAA) as managing director of Public Relations. As a spokesman for AAA, he appeared on NBC's "Today Show" and ABC's "Good Morning America," and testified before a committee of Congress.
Before joining AAA, Calcagni served as senior vice president at MWW/Seattle, a Golin/Harris strategic communications firm in Seattle, Washington.
He was director of corporate communications at CyberCash, Inc., (CYCH), a pioneering Internet payments company headquartered in Reston, VA before relocating to Seattle. He also served as vice president at Ruder-Finn, Washington, where he led the Institution Practice Group at the Washington, DC-based public relations firm and conducted media training for corporate and not-for-profit executives.
His Washington experience also includes positions as director of communications for former U.S. Senator Robert Stafford of Vermont, chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, and for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas.
Calcagni is an award-winning television journalist who worked as a reporter and/or anchor at network-affiliated television stations in Virginia, North Carolina, Massachusetts and New York, and whose reporting was seen frequently on CNN in the early days of the cable network.
Calcagni received his Bachelor of Arts degree in American History at Middlebury College and earned a Master of Science degree in Journalism at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
